Project-based Learning
Middle school-aged learners want to do work that is relevant to them. We give them a purpose for doing important work through our project-based “Quests” in which they will learn REAL skills for a successful future—entrepreneurship, creative processes, collaboration, and problem-solving (just to name a few!).
Self-Governance
Middle School learners govern themselves on an individual and collective level. Individually, they are given a roadmap of skills to master, and they learn the habits necessary to achieve the things they set their minds to. Collectively, they learn to manage their studio, solve problems, and serve others.
Travel Experiences
Experiences in the real world are an integral part of our school’s program. Learners in the middle school studio will have the opportunity to attend local educational field trips, as well as multi-day trips within the U.S. and foreign.
Apprenticeships
Once or twice a year, middle school learners set up apprenticeships with local businesses to try out different fields they are interested in. The goal is to gain exposure and experience in REAL professions so that in high school they have a clear path to their “Next Great Adventure.”
“The people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who do”
